Nice Person, Bad Book

I simply cannot stand to hear people rave about bad books. I have had the misfortune to overhear a couple conversations between people I otherwise respect and admire discuss their appalling taste in pleasure reading. I’m not going to pretend I’m not being a snob. Oh, I’m being a snob all right! And last time I checked it was perfectly ok for me to stand in a public place, yelling, “Tom Clancy is a moron!” But then, the Constitution has taken somewhat of a beating lately, so maybe freedom of expression was revoked under the Patriot Act.
